I have been doing what I do right now for three years, but I have been working towards becoming an astrophysicist my whole life.

I have spent 4 years on my B.Sc+M.Sc, then another 4 years on my Ph.D, and now I am finishing my third year as a Postdoctoral Research assistant. If you count B.Sc+M.Sc as studies and Ph.D and Postdoc as work (which they are!), 7 years.

I spent in total 6 years obtaining my undergraduate degree and PhD. I post doc’d for 9 years in a University and now have worked at ISIS neutron source for three years (enjoyed all of the time working to this point)

Getting my Bachelor and Master degrees took me 5 years. I went straight to the PhD afterwards and it’s been 1 year and three months.
Overall, it’s been a bit more than 6 years, then!
