      No!
We have a very strict environmental policy on everything we do, and we ensure the level of environmental safety and protection specified by European standards and directives. We monitor all parameters that might reveal any impact on the environment, such as those related to atmospheric emissions, effluent water, radiation, consumption of electricity and production of waste.

We even have our accelerator 100m underground, so it doesn’t become ugly to look at the French countryside where most of it is 🙂
(also it was cheaper to make a 27 km tunnel 100m underground than to buy all the land in the surface where the accelerator lives)

My safety team in the university would be MOST DISPLEASED if I were to do something harmful for the environment in the lab!
Every chemical I use has its safety regulation, it might happen that I use something that it’s harmful for the environment if released into it, but then I have strict way of disposing of it so I don’t make a mess!

No it does not – we do all our work considering its effect on the environment and safety considerations. I think that the majority of science research that goes on does this in a considerate manner
