Question: Do you have your own lab?

That would be awesome, but I am afraid I don’t!
Labs are really expensive to equip and to run, so you always tend to work for a bigger institution or with a bigger group to cover for the money!
For example, I work in the University, so the University covers part of the cost, another part of the cost is covered by money gave to my boss (my professor) from the European Union because he told them “I want to do this particular project with this amount of people” and they thought it was interesting enough to put money on it!
