I listen to music all the time, and what I choose depends on what I’m doing. If I’m making a computer program, I can listen to anything really, but if I’m trying to write up my work in a report, I can’t listen to anything with lyrics… Otherwise I just end up writing down the words to the song by accident!
I love pretty much any type of music. I just heard the new album by Grimes and I like it a lot, and recently I’ve been listening to a mixture of Drake and heavy metal. Sometimes classical music is great to work to, but drum’n’bass is also good for my productivity. I love music!!!

When I work, I tend not to listen to music because it kinds of distract me, especially if I’m doing something that requires writing or the like.
The only moment in which I prefer having music on and work is when the office is really loud so I wouldn’t possibly be able to concentrate otherwise.

If I’m doing a repetitive task (like running a program multiple times with known tweaks in the procedure or compiling a spreadsheet), I tend to listen to podcasts, Welcome to Night Vale being the preferred one!

When I am not working, though, I listen to music every time I’m going somewhere, even if it’s just a two minute walk!
The type of music depends on the mood of the day, it can be classical, epic, metal, rock, cheesy crazy pop music, or I can just keep the iPod on shuffle! I’m really hectic about this!

When I am working by myself, without interacting with students or other co-workers in a meeting, I tend to listen to music. Usually cheesy pop songs, preferably from the 90s or early 2000s, because they make me in a good enthusiastic mood, and that makes it easier to carry on. I must confess my office mate have caught me more than once dancing and lip syncing to some Britney Spears while doing something in the computer, and I did not notice him coming into the office…

I don’t have a genre of music I listen to normally (and I don’t even have a normal routine either!). It varies a lot according to mood or activity. So if I am in a relaxing bubble bath, I would put on some Morcheeba or Portishead. If I am rock climbing, I would prefer the gym to have some music with a beat. If I am just commuting or walking around, any songs with a good vibe, happy mood. If I am angry, rock or metal songs. Or if I am feeling fancy, I get some classical music, a glass of wine and a nice book. If I am feeling nostalgic of my home country, I listen to some awful Brazilian funk, the worse, the better to feel at home again.
