  There are a few different instruments on the Solar Dynamics Observatory, the main one I use is a collection of ten special ultraviolet cameras which observes super hot plasma in the atmosphere. There are also other special cameras which can “see” magnetic field on the surface of the Sun, which is pretty awesome, too.
